Come and join Safira for a practical introduction to Islamic geometry. Using a ruler and compass, construct a pattern and create a painting to take home.
About this event:
This Islamic geometry workshop will explore a pattern from Islamic traditions - in particular an 8-fold pattern from a minaret in Cairo, Egypt.
During the session we will be using a compass and ruler to create a geometric pattern template and we will go through the process of transferring and repeating the template on to watercolour paper. The pattern we will create in class is pictured.
The second part of the session will be an opportunity to explore painting techniques so you can create your own piece of work to take home.
