About the event

A practical introduction to Islamic geometry. Using a ruler and compass, construct a pattern and create a painting to take home with you

About this event:

This Islamic geometry workshop will explore a pattern from Islamic traditions.

This month we will be looking at a six-fold Mughal pattern found in tiles at Shah Jahan Mosque, Pakistan and the Tomb of Itimud ad-Daula, Agra, India.

See a clearer picture of the pattern we will draw here.

During the session we will be using a compass and ruler to create a geometric pattern template and we will go through the process of transferring and repeating the template on to watercolour paper. The pattern we will create in class is pictured.
