A practical introduction to Islamic geometry. Using a ruler and compass, construct a pattern and create a painting to take home with you
About this event:
This Islamic geometry workshop will explore a pattern from Islamic traditions. This month, we will look at a 12-fold roundel pattern from Antalya, in Turkey. There will be the option to weave the pattern, which participants will be guided through in class.

During the session we will be using a compass and ruler to create a geometric pattern template and we will go through the process of transferring and repeating the template on to watercolour paper. The pattern we will create in class is pictured.
The last part of the session will be an opportunity to explore painting techniques so you can create your own piece of work to take home.
