This artwork shows an eight-fold pattern found in a minaret at Sultan Qaytbay Mosque, in Cairo, Egypt.
Safira has recreated this in her pencil and abstract watercolour style using a straight-edge and compass. She has drawn directly on to the paper, with the pencil construction lines visible underneath.
It is painted in Safira’s signature abstract style using colours in greens, oranges and browns, reflective of the time of year this was painted, in the Summer going into Autumn. It was painted freehand (without masking tape or masking fluid) in granulating paints, creating a textured effect.
Created using pencil and watercolour paints on 300gsm cold-pressed paper. Size in frame 60cm x 60cm.
The artwork is part of the ‘Circles’ collection created in 2025 and exhibited at StudionAme, Leicester, (August 2025) and at Kismet Gallery, London (May – June 2026).
The artwork comes framed in a black wooden frame, framed with glass. Provided with mirror plates and D rings so you have a couple of options of how to hang it at home.
