This artwork shows an eight-fold rosette pattern. It is inspired by zellige-style tiles from Morocco. Safira first travelled to Marrakesh in 2019, after which she became inspired to learn Islamic geometry. After a later trip to Fez in 2022, she studied the zellige style further which led to this painting.
Safira has recreated this in her ink pen style using a straight-edge and compass. She has drawn directly on to the paper, with the construction grid lines showing. The lines are visible showing the different stages of the drawing process. She painted this using gouache paints and watercolours.
Created using ink, gouache and watercolour paints on 300gsm cold-pressed paper. Size in frame 60cm x 60cm.
The artwork is part of the ‘Circles’ collection created in 2025 and exhibited at StudionAme, Leicester, (August 2025) and at Kismet Gallery, London (May – June 2026).
The artwork comes framed in a black wooden frame, framed with glass. Provided with mirror plates and D rings so you have a couple of options of how to hang it at home.
