Paint what you see. I have a tree outside my window where I work, and the colour has gradually been changing. It's now a deep shade of red. It's not until I mixed these colours that I realised I was painting what was in front of me.

Autumn sunshine making an appearance while I painted. It's been a little while since I painted and I was inspired by this autumn palette.

I'm pleased to be returning to @thepenmuseum in Birmingham to teach classes. First up for this month we will be learning this pattern this Sunday 15th September 12pm-3pm.

Labyrinth - Colours

Initially I was leaning towards darker colours, a mix of blues, greys, blacks and purples. But decided to look a little into colour theory and the association of colours.

This piece is my response to the @parablesoflight project, looking at mental health from an Islamic perspective.

As part of this, I asked on instagram which colours people associated with anxiety and depression. I had some really interesting conversations with people about these and their association with colours. I haven't included their names as I didn't ask permission to include these, but I've included some comments.

This took a day to draw - I didn't want to come back to it on another day in another mindset.

After drawing the grid, it took me a few weeks to work out the network of passageways and to navigate some of the dead ends through the work.

I finally finished this piece - Dome

Originally I had analysed it and intended to show it at the InPraise Exhibition in 2022. But with a little more time and patience also came a chance to work on it some more.

Based on the dome ceiling in Masjid an-Nabawi (the Prophet's Mosque) in Medina.

Thank you to @takhleeqleicester for the motivation to complete it and the opportunity to exhibit it at @studioname_leics

Private View is tomorrow 7.30pm-9pm.
